Jim Jordan

Jim is a 30+ year veteran of the recording and broadcast industries.  He started in the late 60's working on Beyond Our Control, a weekly television program sponsored by the University of Notre Dame, and produced entirely by high school students.  This unique opportunity led to studies in Telecommunications and Education at Indiana Univeristy, and the Institute of Audio Research in New York, where he later taught.  Stints at Electric Lady Studios and Greene Street Recording in the 70's found Jim providing tech support for sessions with Kiss, the Rolling Stones, Peter Frampton, Billy Cobham, Philip Glass, Elvis Costello, and Nick Lowe.  He started Recording Studio Services in the 80's to provide engineering and technical services in NYC, leading to the design and construction of a custom audio console for Live From Lincoln Center.  Jim supplied tech support for over 100 telecasts of the Emmy Award-winning series, as well as live broadcasts from the Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall.  He and his family moved to Nashville in the early 90's, and he continued to freelance on projects throughout the country, including the Peabody Award-winning "Marsalis on Music" and telecasts of the Washington DC Opera.  Jim joined Starstruck Studios as Manager of Technical Operations, where he maintainined two world-class recording studios and designed a broadcast studio for radio and television production.  Transverse Networks was formed in 2004, adding webcasts and webinars to the mix.

Jim has written columns and features for VideoPro, TV Technology, Audio Media, and Sweetwater's Music Production Toolbox.  He still geeks out over audio gear (both new and vintage), loves to teach (though he doesn't do it enough anymore) and really gets a kick out of sending audio and video across the world via ISDN, satellite, and the internet.
